Gathering and resources

Nodes, respawns, foraging, tools, weight, and burying things with a shovel.

Resources are placed by the world, not by players. Some regions are rich, some are empty, and a few spots — motherlodes — are worth fighting over.

Nodes

  • Trees give wood. Harvest leaves the tree; Chop Down fells it for more.
  • Stone deposits and iron mines give stone and ore. Sulfur mines are rare and sit near volcanoes.
  • Forage plants give berries, fruit, herbs and saps by region — cacao in one place, frostbloom in another.

Tap a node, pick the action, and stand still while the bar fills. Walking or being hit cancels it. When a node is exhausted it either regrows where it stands or moves somewhere nearby.

Weight

Everything but currency weighs something, and your bag shows carried weight against capacity. At capacity, gathering, pickups, shop buys and market buys are refused until you make room. Backpacks add capacity for as long as you own them.

Tools

Chopping Gloves and Mining Gloves make gathers of their kind take a single second. They have a limited number of uses and are destroyed at zero.

Skills that help

Woodcutting, Mining and Foraging speed up gathers of their kind; some rings and amulets do the same.

Burying things

A Shovel buries any droppable item invisibly, for as long as you like. Anyone digging within a few steps of the spot reveals what is there. Each player can keep a limited number of things buried at once.
