Flags and territory
Claiming land, where flags may go, how borders are drawn, attack and burn, repair, hardening, travel access and colors.
Flags claim land, mark it in your color, and give you places to teleport between. They are the most common thing in the world and the reason most fights happen.
Where a flag may go
- On unclaimed ground, or ground you already own, inside your build reach — which is measured from the centre of your reach circle, not from where you stand.
- Not too close to your own other flags, a resource, a living creature or another player.
- On water it becomes a buoy, with all the same rules.
Planting is a short countdown you must stand still for. If a rival claims the spot first, you run out of materials, or anything else goes wrong, you get a message saying exactly why.
Borders
Every point of ground belongs to the nearest flag, weighted by that flag's claim size. So a new flag's circle may overlap a rival's — the border simply falls halfway between them. When a flag dies, its neighbours grow back to their full circles on their own.
Your land is drawn in the color you picked at registration; kingdom land in the kingdom's color; city land in grey. Flag Dyes recolor a single flag's claim.
Attack, burn, repair
Anyone can attack a flag with the weapon they hold. Attacks alone only bring it down to half health. To destroy it an attacker must set it burning; the burn drains the remaining health over the flag's burn time unless the owner repairs it. When it burns out the flag is gone, its land is free, and anything that needed that land (a house, a workshop) falls with it, spilling its contents on the ground.
The owner is mailed when a flag is attacked, when it starts burning (with a Teleport button) and when it is lost.
Hardening
A soft flag burns out in moments; a hardened flag takes a full day. Hardening costs a little stone from the flag's menu and is the single best thing you can do for a flag you care about.
Travel access
- Normal (the default): players must request passage by mail; you grant or deny from your inbox, per player, for all your normal flags at once.
- Public: anyone may teleport in, paying the crown fee you set — or nothing.
- Private: only you.
The owner always travels their own flags free, and your enemies are never allowed on your flags at all until you make peace.
Names and signs
Flags can be renamed from their menu, and a Wooden Sign lets you plant a message anywhere at all — even on a rival's land.
