Movement and the map

Tap to move, the reach circle, the one fixed zoom, and how your real location is (and is not) used.

Crownfront is a fantasy world drawn over the real map. Roads, rivers and coastlines are real; the flags, trees, creatures and players on top of them are the game.

Your location

The game asks for your location only when you choose to anchor or re-anchor yourself — at first spawn and whenever you pick Relocate. It never follows you around in real life, and there is no automatic location mechanism. Decline at first spawn and you begin in a shared hub instead.

Moving

  • Double-tap the ground to walk. Movement takes real time at a brisk, constant pace; the server walks you the rest of the way even if you close the game mid-stride.
  • Single-tap anything — a tree, a creature, a flag, a player, empty ground — to open its menu. When several things sit under your finger, a chooser lists all of them.
  • Tapping a thing out of reach walks you to it first, then acts.

The reach circle

You act only inside the circle around you. Its centre is the last place you anchored — your spawn point or the flag you last travelled to — so you can wander to its edge but not beyond. Travel (or planting a flag and travelling to it) moves the circle. Creatures, resources, ground items and other players are only shown inside the circle; flags and territory are always shown.

Zoom

There is one zoom level, chosen so the reach circle always fits across the screen. Pinch and scroll do nothing on purpose.

Water

Building on water is allowed — the game simply calls the result a buoy instead of a flag.

Inside a building

Inside your cabin, a hall or a Trade Hub the room is a small square and the outside world is paused for you. Walking out the door returns you to the doorstep you entered from.
