Body armor comes in families, and each family resists some weapon classes better than others. The Breastplate is the heavy choice of the early roster: it absorbs the most, weighs the most, and its weight slows your walk a touch. Armor never adds health — it reduces what lands.
Armor cannot be changed while your status dot is red, so choose before the fight.
